Step it up and risk it.

So from one minute to the next I was shook. From finding peace, ease, tranquility, I was suddenly sent to disturb. And that happens to every one of us. Thing is, they say, that in order to reach places, especially with others, you got to put your guard down. I, however, strongly disagree. But on occasions it is true. Yet it is also true that when you do, right on the spot, someone tries to make you crack. It’s as if you are a punching bag, trying to see how many hits you can take.

For once, I had decided keep my walls. Close myself off from everyone and avoid any type of intimacy, with anyone. Still, I realized that wasn’t a solution either. See, no one messed with me, you could say, but I was unhappy anyways. Which made me realized that, in life, you have to undeniably take risks. And taking risks equals putting your guard down. Yes you will get hurt, bruised, but most importantly, you’ll be taught. So let go, live, suffer and rejoice, for that only makes you better on the long hall. Keeping this in mind, here’s a little story.

She had a feeling about that girl for a very long time. It was a shady, harsh feeling. She didn’t trust her, not at all, but against all odds she let all grudges go and patch things up. Only to be stabbed in the back once more. And so they say, “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” That girl’s false pretense infuriated her every time, but they both had come to terms. Or so she thought. Since that fake once again tried pushing her around and claim what wasn’t her. This time, she tried to be the bigger person, left her pride aside and put everything out there, but found a door shut that implied that there was no longer any possibility of understanding. Ultimately, a lesson was learned, she put herself on the line to have a friend, who betrayed her. And again she gave her all to make peace and got rejected. So yes, you have to make choices, sometimes hard, but eventually, you have to chance it. In contrast, she may have lost one friend, which may have been convenient, but she still has many others that are worth much more due to being risky.

This makes me conclude that in life, it’s all about how you throw it off. You have options, you make choices, you get hit or you succeed. It’s pretty simple. But whatever the outcomes are each time, never stop putting yourself out there, because for every loss, comes more treasure, and every second, brings a new opportunity.

Seize a home.

It was supposed to be a family meal. However, it was pretty much the same than eating alone. A long table filled with people side by side, yet it was impossible to sit face to face. As if it was planned in order to avoid what lingered for so long in their minds.

Indeed it was a broken family. They could be sitting there altogether, but the bonds and strings that tied them were long ago wrecked. The hypocrisy, banality, and emptiness of the whole situation made her tick. She wished in that very moment to be fully independent, to be away, to go solo, and that way, she hoped, relieve her loneliness.

Voices come and voices go. Conversation is evident, alive, eager, constant, yet empty. Everyone talks about other people's problems but their own. No one faces his or her reality but judges the one who sits on the table to the right. They start arguing heavily, and it turns out that it's about someone else's age. Ridiculous. She can't take it. The sudden urge to scream, cry, curse, being held and protected, having someone to lean on, it all struck her suddenly. She was impressed, overwhelmed, and determined.

The rush that took over her may have made her irrational, but the certain thing was that she had made a decision. And it was evident. Without hesitating, she grabbed her purse, stood up, and without saying a word, walked through the room, to the door. What hurt her most was, the fact that nobody noticed.

Out, she took a mouthful of fresh air, enjoyed every second of it, and started moving on. After a while, relief took her heart, and her face started to glow, due to a new feeling, happiness. She could see it, she was closer. Then his body emerged from the door, expecting her. He had seized for long this sole moment. She couldn't help to finally smile. She ran, ran towards him, and when their bodies met, she hugged him, with no fear, no doubt. She was finally home.
